About the Book
Our lives are becoming ever more intertwined with technology.
The organisations who provide that technology are increasingly focused on delivering value for their customers. Understanding what really matters to those customers can be the difference between success and failure for products and services.
As they develop the digital technology at the heart of those products and services, companies have attempted to bridge the gap between development teams and customers, and to put in place mechanisms to improve quality.
Meanwhile, for each of us – the humans who use the products - our diverse needs and desires raise questions about the complex relationship with the products we use. What are the factors which affect that relationship? How do we decide what matters to us, what we like and what we don’t like? What does quality mean in our digital age?
Changing Times answers these questions. The book weaves an engaging and human focused story about a journalist and the technology which she depends on, with analysis and insights on themes including Agile and Lean software development, Human-Centered Design and Usability in technology.
This is a book for all humans; those involved in the development of software and other technology, those who run the organisations providing that technology and anyone else interested in how technology affects their lives.
"The gap between people in technology development and their customers is wide. To bridge this gap, Rich has made technology challenges real to us in an everyday context… this book will help you better understand the wonderful and sometimes confusing world of technology quality."
Tony Bailey, CEO, AccessHQ
"They say quality is ‘value to some person’. If that’s indeed true, then this book is quality to me! A book for tech newbies through to tech enthusiasts, Changing Times provides grounded perspective on an often-misguided subject."
David Greenlees, Author of Software Testing as a Martial Art
“This book will change your opinion on quality!”
