About the Book
This book starts by chronicling my experiences as someone with an exceptionally strong mind-body connection. This introduces how one’s autonomic self can be viewed as a complex system that is normally protected from your conscious thoughts. Like any complex system, it can be hacked to gain control. Examples of and methods for autonomic hacking are detailed. With effort, these methods can be learned to gain conscious control of many bodily processes such as vascular and endocrine systems.
This book should be of interest to any devoted biohacker as it opens the most direct path to observing and changing yourself. Scientists and doctors interested in this new frontier of human thought will also find this book imperative in their efforts to understand psychosomatic disorders.
This work builds on studies of neuroplasticity, biofeedback, mindfulness and the placebo/nocebo response. In addition, comparisons are provided to the methods of Wim Hof (The Iceman), Dr. Carl O. Simonton, Dr. Michael Moskowitz, and Dr. John E. Sarno. Mirroring their motivations, this book aims to teach self-help techniques for better health and wellness. Guided by those preceding works, I speculate that those affected by chronic pain and cancer could benefit from applying these new techniques and perspectives.
This is a first step towards my goal of becoming the first documented case of extreme autonomic connectivity. I’ve used these techniques to make changes that are observable with the naked eye. These experiences are described along with warnings of the risks involved.
The methods in this book are not substitutes for conventional medical care. Joe Somata is a pseudonym.
