Written in a traditional divertimento form (six movements in contrasting styles), Brass Quintet No. 3 aims to be accessible to general audiences while offering sufficient challenges to the musicians to keep it interesting for them, as well.
Brass Quintet Nos. 3 and 4 were written concurrently, and with different goals in mind. No. 3 is brief, accessible, and in multiple movements, while No. 4 is a single movement in a more abstract style.
