About the Book
Someone was smuggling gunpowder to the Royal Navy and if they weren't stopped, the scales could tip in the favor of the British presence becoming a great threat to the young American colonies.
The U.S. Navy knew they could rely on Officer Tanner Jacobs to get the job done without delay or entanglements. On orders to uncover the traitors responsible, Jacobs poses as the new partner of Preston Shipping. He’s never failed a mission yet and expects he'll have no trouble in finding these criminals. What he doesn't expect to find is a woman whose head-strong nature and untamed spirit distracts him in the most dangerous of ways.
Refusing to accept ‘human error’ as the explanation for recurring mistakes on the supply manifests at her father’s shipbuilding company, Emma launches her own investigation into the mystery of appearing/disappearing inventory. Coming head to head with Tanner Jacobs, Emma soon discovers that more than her father’s business is in danger when her heart threatens to override her head.
As Tanner and Emma fight the attraction that flares between them, America and Britain prepare to face off on the waters of the Great Lakes. When duty calls him to the front lines, they are forced to choose between love and pride, duty and destiny, but will the ensuing battle claim a price higher than either of them is willing to pay?
With the bristling tension mounting between the British and their allies to the north and the developing U.S. forces to the south, pride and love wage their own war for victory in a battle that has never seen As Fierce A Flame.
