About the Book
The Essential Principles of Public Procurement (Updated) is a concise guide aimed at beginner and intermediate procurement professionals, offering a practical overview of the foundational principles of public procurement. It highlights the ethical pillars of transparency, integrity, and fairness as critical to fostering trust and accountability in managing public funds. These principles ensure open, ethical, and equitable procurement processes.
Operational efficiency is underscored through the principles of economy, openness, and competition, which emphasize value for money, accessibility for suppliers, and the promotion of innovation. Governance and accountability are reinforced by mechanisms for documentation, risk management, and anti-corruption measures, ensuring responsible and transparent procurement practices.
The Lesson also explores how emerging technologies like e-procurement, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, alongside sustainability and social responsibility, are reshaping procurement processes. It stresses the interconnectedness of these principles and their importance in building ethical, efficient, and resilient procurement systems that meet public needs effectively. Through this resource, the author provides an accessible yet comprehensive introduction to public procurement's core values and future directions.
