About the Book
"A kitchen without a cabinet is like a body without a soul."
This is what a wise cabinetmaker uttered when I asked what cabinet-making meant to him.
I have been practicing all aspects of woodworking like Joinery, Woodturning, Furniture making, and Cabinet Making. I must say this art provides the maximum chance of impacting the overall look of your kitchen or bathroom, eventually, your home.
Cabinets, for me, are an extension of your personality and a great way to express yourself.
When I first started woodcraft, I looked desperately for a go-to guide about the specific processes and exact tools required.
The content I found online was total information overload and wasn't presented sequentially. The books either focused on just a few processes or assumed I already had the necessary information. Many of the books were also very dated.
There are two ways of learning: learning from SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) with years of experience and acquiring from people who are just a few steps ahead of you in their journey.
I fall into the latter group. I've spent five years on this hobby and am still learning from the experts.
However, I still remember my initial doubts and the first tips that helped me.
This book is for those still running their first lap (0-3 years) in wood-crafting and who want to gain a holistic idea of the necessary processes and tools.
I've included photographs of realistic beginner projects, explaining their processes and standard operating procedures.
Below are the topics you would find inside:
- Introduction to Cabinet Making
- Cabinet Types, Doors, and Drawers
- Tools used and best practices
- Process and Techniques
- 10 Beginner Projects
- Recap and Safety Tips
- Conclusion and Free Online Resources
In the last chapter, I've provided a link to free online resources for planning your following projects.
Cheers, and let's start the exciting journey!
About the Author
Hello,
Welcome to my profile!
Here's my story:
I am Business Consultant in my mid-thirties with a Bachelor's in Engineering & Master in Business Management.
I have worked in the areas of IT Advisory & Roadmap and Project Management for transformational projects. Currently, I am working with the public sector in the e-Governance space, trying to take the benefits of technology to the masses through innovation and customization.
This aspect of disruptive technology beyond regular discussions/implementation excites me. I am always looking for that case study in South America, Africa, or Asia, where the game's rules have been changed to solve the massive scale of the problem!
On the personal front, the last ten years have been a roller coaster ride managing my career and family. My elder son is seven years old, and the second one turned 2.
Besides Technology, I have been into Leather Crafting, wood crafting, and foraging for the last five years. It is a perfect hobby for my weekends, and I enjoy crafting beautiful gifts for my family and friends.
I have been working consistently and most importantly enjoying my current phase of life, career, and growth. With all the experience and renewed vigor, I will surely achieve my goals in a stipulated time frame. I decided to jot down my learning and experiences along the way and share it with you.
Will See You Soon, Friend!
