About the Book
In August 2005, I published my first blog post. I didn’t know it then, but I was starting a practice that would last two decades, span more than 550 posts, and become one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
Over 20 years of writing, I’ve explored ideas from software development to motorcycle racing, from public speaking to personal growth. I’ve shared lessons learned the hard way, patterns that keep showing up, and small moments that grew into big insights.
This book distills 20 lessons from that journey—each one drawn from real posts and talks, each one lived before it was written. You’ll find short, focused reflections paired with quotes from my original work, plus prompts to help you pause and consider how these lessons might play out in your own life.
Whether you’ve been following my writing for years or you’re just discovering it now, my hope is that these lessons encourage you to keep learning, keep reflecting, and keep moving forward—in work, in play, and in life.

Claudio Lassala has been writing, speaking, and building software for over 30 years. In August 2005, he launched his personal blog at lassala.net, where he has published more than 550 posts reflecting on topics from software craftsmanship and Agile practices to creativity, music, and motorcycle racing.

His work blends technical expertise with a love of storytelling, making complex ideas accessible and inspiring.
When he’s not writing or coding, Claudio can often be found on a racetrack riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, or exploring new ways to connect ideas across disciplines.
