Be a Buddy
This section is for Summit alumni. You’ve been here before. You know how impactful your first Summit was. You probably also remember what it felt like walking in for the first time: exciting, a little overwhelming, and full of unknowns.
Now think back to earlier in your career. There are likely things you wish someone had told you sooner. That’s exactly where you can help.
The Buddy Program pairs experienced Summit attendees with participants from the OnRamp track — individuals who are newer to the community, the industry, or both. Your role is simple: help them feel welcome, supported, and connected throughout the week.
What Being a Buddy Looks Like
As a buddy, you will: - Sit with your OnRamp participant during Monday general sessions - Join them for lunch and help answer questions - Check in with them throughout the week - Introduce them to other attendees and help them feel included
Optional (but encouraged)
- Attend an evening event together
- Invite them to join group dinners, morning walks, or other activities
- If you’re connecting through
#sober-summiteerson Slack, bring them along — it’s a great low-key way to meet people
This isn’t a full-time responsibility — you’ll still attend your own Summit sessions. Think of it as being a friendly point of contact and a familiar face throughout the week.
You don’t need to be an expert to make a difference — just someone willing to show up.
Why It Matters
OnRamp helps build strong technical professionals. The Buddy Program helps turn them into confident, connected members of the community.
A small amount of your time can make a huge difference in someone’s Summit experience.
How to Get Involved
If you’re interested in being a buddy:
- Join the #onramp-buddies channel in Slack
- Or update your registration form to indicate your interest
We’ll introduce buddies a few weeks before Summit and help coordinate your first meetup — typically Sunday evening or Monday morning.
