Introduction

Cangjie Codes for Traditional Chinese Characters makes it easy to find specific Chinese characters and their associated Cangjie input codes. It contains over 12 000 characters divided and sorted alphabetically by the final elements of their cangjie codes and further arranged within each group alphabetically by the initial element of their cangjie codes.

Rather than just using a computer to sort the codes by their cangjie codes, the characters have been arranged by human judgement so that similiarly shaped character elements are grouped together. (This can be a good thing and a bad thing…)

As an example the three characters below each share the 日 symbol as their final element, represented by the letter a.

  • 間, 沓, 香 etc.

Those three characters can be used as recognizable elements in larger characters as shown below.

  • 瞷, 澗, 簡 or
  • 錔, 涾, 踏 or
  • 馨, 馫, 萫.

All of these characters can be found under the A Index since their final element is represented by the letter A. Each in turn has their own table titled with an element that is common to all characters within that table. The tables show the cangjie input codes for each character in both letter and symbol form as well as the Mandarin pronounciation(s) for each character using pinyin.
