Lean Publishing Tip of the Day: Show People How To Contact, Follow, and Mention You Online
So, one important step in building a community of readers is to let them know how to find you online.
You can’t build a community of readers if people can’t find you!
So, one important step in building a community of readers is to let them know how to find you online.
Updating Your Leanpub Profile Page
On Leanpub, you can do this on your profile page here:
https://leanpub.com/user_dashboard/settings
On that page, you can add a variety of social media handles that you use.
Currently, we support Twitter/X, GitHub, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
(If you’re not on any social platforms, we strongly recommend trying one out; it’s the best free way to reach people.)
You can also add links to your blog or website in the “About You” section of your profile page.
Share Your Email Address
We also strongly recommend that you share your email address with your readers. Leanpub authors typically do this in a section early on in their book, where they invite feedback from readers.
Of course, you may not want to share your mail personal email address with readers; instead, you may want to create an email address that you only use in your capacity as an author.
Follow and Mention Other People
One great way to get people to see you is to at-mention them online and share their hashtags, if they have any.
Sharing that you liked someone’s latest article or blog post or book may get you to show up in their mentions or notifications - and believe it or not, most people really do check theirs, even the biggest people in your subject area or genre.
