Lean Publishing Tip of the Day: Leanpub’s Publish on Amazon Service
One feature many authors have asked us for over the years is basically a magic button that would publish their book in print.
One feature many authors have asked us for over the years is basically a magic button that would publish their book in print.
Now, that is actually a huge thing to ask: the business of publishing and selling print books is very different from the business of publishing and selling ebooks.
That’s one reason we created our Publish on Amazon service for authors.
It’s Amazing How Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) Takes Care of the Printing and Distribution of Books
Amazon’s KDP is an amazing service.
For free, you can use it to publish your book in both paperback and hardcover, to customers in many different countries around the world.
We take so many services like this for granted nowadays, that up until recently would have been simply impossible to do essentially from your desktop, with nothing more than a computer and an internet connection.
…But KDP is Really Hard to Use
When we say KDP is really hard to use, we’re not knocking KDP; it probably couldn’t be less complex than it is, dealing with book printing and sales and distribution in countries around the world.
Writing and self-publishing a book is hard and time-consuming enough, without also having to go out and learn how to use a new, complex platform.
And that’s not to mention managing payments, which is one of the biggest sticking points we hear about from authors who’ve used KDP themselves.
So, even though they can use KDP for free, many Leanpub authors prefer for us to handle it for them.
What Does It Cost?
Publish on Amazon is a premium concierge service that costs only $2,499.
You earn 80% of the publisher revenue that we earn from Amazon as royalties on your book.
If you’re interested in getting your Leanpub book into print and having us handle all the KDP stuff for you, check out our Publish on Amazon service here.
