Lean Publishing Tip of the Day: Applying for Launch Videos
At Leanpub, we record Launch videos with selected authors when they publish books or courses for the first time - and when they publish significant updates, too.
Book launch events are a time-honored way to get attention for a new book!
Conventionally this meant going to bookstores, libraries, or similar venues for scheduled events.
And if you were really lucky or famous, you might even get a TV appearance or two.
Today, recording your own launch videos is a fun and easy way to promote your new book or course.

We've built a feature to make it easy to apply for a Launch video!
When you publish a book for the first time, you'll see this box:
Click "Apply Now" to submit your application.
We read all applications, but we can't accept them all, sorry about that.

You can also go to the current form here.
This is a great way to apply for a Launch video if you want to record it before you publish your book for the first time, so you can give us time to prepare it and publish it on your planned publication date, and so you can then promote the video right when you first publish it.
Promoting Your Launch Video
When the video is published, you can add it to your Leanpub landing page.
We also recommend you promote the video on your social media channels, your personal website, and your email newsletter, if you have one.

Publishing Multiple Launch Videos
At Leanpub our motto is "Publish Early, Publish Often".
We encourage authors to publish their books after they've written the first couple of chapters, and then publish a new version of their book when they complete additional chapters. (Anyone who buys your book gets access to new versions for free, of course!)
That means every time you publish a new version of your book, it's an opportunity to treat it like a new launch.
So, you may want to record more than book launch video, if you're publishing your book that way!
