Things I Never Said

Things I Never Said

About the Book

One of my favorite albums of all time is Toad the Wet Sprocket's "In Light Syrup". It's a collection of B-sides and rarities, little things they did that didn't make it to one of the mainstream albums. These are the songs where the artists are free to play a little more. The songs are still polished and well made, but less serious, more adventurous.

This book is my B-side collection.

These are stories and essays that aren't really part of any greater work, even though some of them are my favorite things I've ever written. I'm not trying to teach you vim or tmux, I'm just enjoying the craft of writing.

Thanks to the magic of Leanpub, this book will grow over the next year. The book you buy now will gain new stories, new essays, new chapters, even a complete novella, all added as I have time to perfect and refine these works into the best version of themselves they can be.

Some of these stories or essays have appeared on line before on various blogs I maintain or contribute to. But these are the author's definitive editions, meaning I've actually re-read them and tightened them up, given them some editorial polish, and presented them to you, the reader.

My hope is that you find something interesting or instructive or amusing in this book. I'd love to hear what you think about any and all stories included in this collection. So sit back and enjoy reading some of the things I never said.
