She escaped a broken childhood, only to be pulled back ten years later...

En mi defensa añadiré que yo también era "normal", hace tiempo... (y espacio). Y que me enfadé con, me reí de, pero, sobre todo, critiqué a... los que perdían el avión. Y mi crítica siempre acababa igual: - A mí, eso no me pasa. Hasta que me pasó. Y entonces entendí que aquello también era "normal"... pues a muchos les había pasado. y que tampoco es para tanto.  Pero lo que más me costó fue asimilar que a mí eso sí me pasa... tanto que lo borré de mi diario de abordo para pasarlo al de sueños... a la subcategoría de embarazosos e hiperrealistas concretamente. Ese fue el primero, el primero de los muchos pilares que se fueron derrumbando poco a poco, levantando una polvareda de miedo y dejando mi mente nublada... y en ruinas. Pero las ruinas son bellas, atractivas, nos muestran lo que fue... y cómo fue. Y, aunque no es bueno construir sobre ellas, puedes conservarlas... o incluso sacarles partido ;)

From backpacking in the 90s to living in Mazunte full time from 1999 to 2004.  Here are some of my most vivid memories.  I include the hurricanes of 1997, our summer rainy season adventures and some tidbits of info arm chair travelers may find helpful.  This is not intended to be a travel guide, but some rambling memories from this rambler.  I hope you enjoy reading what I hope is going to be the first of several books. ምኒልክ በ1836 ዓ.ም ነሐሴ 12 ቀን ቅዳሜ ዕለት ተወለዱ። አባታቸው ኃይለ መለኮት ሣህለሥላሴ ሲሆኑ እናታቸው ወይዘሮ እጅጋየሁ ለማ አዲያሞ ይባላሉ። የምኒልክ እናት ወይዘሮ እጅጋየሁ የንጉስ ሣህለሥላሴ ሚስት የወይዘሮ በዛብሽ ገረድና የልጆች ሞግዚት ነበሩ። እጅጋየሁ የግርድና ሥራ የጀመሩት በንጉሥ ሣህለ ሥላሴ ቤት አልነበረም። ንጉሥ ሣህለ ሥላሴ ቤት ከመቀጠራቸው በፊት የአንኮበር ቤተ ክርስቲያን አለቃ የነበሩት የመምህር ምላት ገረድ ነበሩ። በአለቃ ምላት ቤት ግርድና ተቀጥረው ሳለ አንድ ቀን ጧት ለጓደኞቻቸው “….ዛሬ ማታ በሕልሜ ከብልቴ ፀሐይ ስትወጣ አየሁ….” ብለው ተናገሩ። ሥራ ቤቶች የሰሙት ወሬ መዛመቱ አይቀርምና ወሬው ከጌትዮው ከአለቃ ምላት ዘንድ ደረሰ። አለቃ ምላትም “እንግዲያው ይህ ከሆነ ወደላይ ቤት ትሂድ” አሉ። የላይ ቤት የሚባለው የአንኮበሩ የንጉሥ ሣህለ ሥላሴ ቤተ መንግሥት ከኮረብታ ላይ በመሆኑ አገሬው በተለምዶ “ላይ ቤት” ይለዋል። እጅጋየሁ እንደተመከሩት ከንጉሥ ሣህለ ሥላሴ ቤት ሔዴው ተቀጠሩ። የእጅጋየሁ የሕልም ወሬ ተዛምቶ ንጉስ ሣህለ ሥላሴም ቤት ገብቶ ስለነበረ የንጉስ ሣህለ ሥላሴ ባለቤት ወይዘሮ በዛብሽ ያ በሕልም የታየው ፀሐይ ከልጃቸው እንዲወለድ ፈለጉ። ወይዘሮ በዛብሽ ከልቻቸው ሁሉ አብልጠው ሰይፉ ሣህለ ሥላሴን ይወዱታል። ስለዚህ ሰይፉ ከእጅጋየሁ ልጅ እንዲወልድ ማታ እጅጋየሁን ወደሰይፉ መኝታ ቤት ልከው ያን ጐረምሳ እንድትጠብቅ አድረጉ። የልጅ ሰይፉ አሽከሮች የእጅጋየሁን መላክ እንዳወቁ ለጌታቸው ለልጅ ሰይፉ ተናገሩ። ሰይፉ የሚወዳት ሌላ ሴት አለችው የአዲሲቱን የእጅጋየሁን መምጣት እንደሰማ ተናዶ እንዲያባራትም እናቱን ፈርቶ ከወንድሙ ከኃይለ መለኮት ዘንድ ሔዶ “እባክህ ሌላ ሴት ከፈልህ እሜቴ የላኳትን ያቺን ገረድ ውሰድልኝ” አለ። ኃይለመለኮትም እሺ ብሎ ከእጅጋየሁ ጋር ባደረጉት ግንኙነት ልጅ ተፀነሰ።

I dramatically changed my life by leaving my job as a mechanical engineering to travel the world. It's unheard of in conservative Korean society. I developed self-pride, and tried continuing my passionate personality throughout many different life endeavors. For most of my adulthood life, I tried and achieved becoming the successful person by everyone’s normal standard. But it didn’t make me happy. I may never stop seeking answers, and questioning myself, but I’ve finally found my calling.
