Es gibt viele Bücher über relationale Datenbanken. Sogar einige gute. Aber die sind zu lang und zu detailliert für den typischen Interessenten, das heißt meistens Anwendungsentwickler oder Projektleiter.

Wenn Sie Datenbankadministrator werden wollen, dann sollten Sie ein anderes Buch kaufen. Wenn Sie verstehen wollen, wie man eine Anwendung entwickelt, sei es für das Web oder mobil, dann sind Sie hier richtig. Wenn Sie verstehen wollen, warum man ein Datenmodell braucht, dann sind Sie hier richtig. Wenn Sie es eilig haben, dann sind Sie hier richtig.

Keine Sorge wegend des Preises: Dieses Buch ist mehr wert. Aber ich möchte, dass jeder, der sich für relationale Datenbanken interessiert, sich dieses Buch leisten kann. Es ist nicht umsonst, Sie bekommen das Buch nur dann, wenn Sie zumindest kurz darüber nachdenken, ob Sie es wirklich haben wollen. Zum runterladen und auf-der-Festplatte-rumliegen-lassen ist es zu schade.

This book is a short overview about the most important aspects of relational databases, data models, programming and tuning. Intended for business information systems students, practioners and managers.

If you want to become a full time DBA then look elsewhere. If you want to write an application, be it for the web or for mobile, then your are at the right place. If you want to understand, why you need a data model, a DBA or an ORM tool, then you are at the right place. If you are in a hurry, the you are at the right place.

Don't worry about the price. It is as low as it goes, so that everyone can afford it. It is not free, because I want you to think about if you want to read this book. It is not intended for being stored on your disk and never be consulted again.
