Angela Hunt has been telling stories to thousands of people every year for the last year as the Painted Lady. Many of the stories she has told have been light and light hearted. Prior to telling uplifting stories she worked in mental health, bearing witness as a counselor to the worst ways human beings can injure one another. Several years ago adult patrons requested a classic story. She told the original version. They were alarmed. They thought the cartoon version they saw was the original. They liked the real original better. Candy coated storytelling does a disservice to the listener. The story of a mermaid becoming sea foam due to changing herself to please someone else-someone who never really noticed her was meant to be a lesson. Find your own happiness and if you change yourself to please someone else you will fail miserably.
