The author of this book started her career as a developer, as often POs do. Her tendency to engage with people led her to step away from algorithms and coding into a world of project, program and eventually, product management.

The sense of impact and need for connections with people (either customers or developers) was the driving that change.

Agile is all about surfacing dysfunction, but very few teams and very few people like to face it. On the surface, the industry and growing popularity in this role make it very interesting and appealing. The need to overlap different groups and problems is what makes this role exciting, rewarding and challenging.
